The Dj Me

Hello. One of my most favorite endeavors this past year was Dj-ing at a local radio station over the summer. I really enjoyed it because I love to play my selection of music that is the most new and motivating to me. Songs that inspire me to dance and just be more energetic overall. Being a staff member and having a slot to play my selection of music at a standard grade radio station (using an Audioarts D-75 Digital Audio Console), pushed me to strive and find the newest and most enthralling music possible. I was and mostly always am in need of finding new and more innovating music then the last. A lot of songs stay enticing to me though some kind of loose their meaning and I have to search for new songs to keep the couple of hours well and full of energy. I guess I like to play music that will have people happy and motivated to get exercise, even if it is just to go out side and get some fresh air. The summers in the California Bay Area are pretty nice, so going outside for a walk does not take that much encouragement though. I hosted a mid-afternoon slot in hopes of being able to at least intern at a well know local alternative radio station in San Fransico. The radio station despite my active listener-ship for most of my teenage life and much thereafter, said that they did not have any positions available. This was my all and for what it was, I can not complain. Now I know that I may not be what the radio world is looking for but I am not going to let that stop me searching for music that makes me happy. I changed my prospects as far as careers. If I really think about it, the radio personalities actually do lots of work and I am not sure if I am witty enough to fill that spot. At least I did my best and had lots of fun doing so! Thank you very much! Eric M. Rangel

Love Cats: A retrospective 2

Happy New Year Kitten
Hello. This is a retrospective on My cartoon art I like to call, Love Cats, that I have drawn from this past year. Previously I had mentioned that I happened upon this idea from a study of a cat I have drawn for a painting I painted once, Lady Walking in a Park. I think My Love Cats are creative in their own right. The idea is that certain cats have the intelligence and ability to commence there own adventures and delight within a safe world where they have the freedom to do as they will, and yet any of my cats have yet to harm another. A part of Me would like to have a story basis of cats taking over the world, though I think that is not the nicest occurrence to take place. I think I better like the idea of a secret sect of cats that are more enlightened then the average cat. Their ages range from kittens to more mature cats, that have the ability to stand upright when necessary, though carry traits mostly of a regular Felis Catus, in a motor physical sense. I would like to comprise a compilation comic book and place it on the market one day! I have placed My "Vampire Kitten" on a pair of shoes and some select Love Cats on t-shirts that I have placed on My Etsy shoppe, http://www.etsy.com/shop/EricsArtsCreativeInc ! That was actually a big accomplishment for Myself because I would like for people to wear my art. I know that My art is probably more embraced by a female audience, and that is fine with me! I love the female species! Though I do draw some Love Cats that guys would not mind, I.e. "Monster Truck Kitten," and "Blues Jazz Band Cats." Some of my humor is a bit dry and needs more work, for instance, in the "Knight Kitten" comic strip, I wrote a sentence that says, "I think I need a bigger horse or carriage," though I always knew of a horse and carriage that came together like love and marriage, and with "Moon Kitten" comic strip, I wrote, "That's one small leap for cats, and one giant stride for cat kind," that I thought was maybe supposed to be the other way around or have better usage of vocabulary. I would like to think that I am always improving and really see My Love Cats comics to be ever adventurous, witty, and smart! I look forward to being creative and having lots of fun with this art work! :) Thank you very much! Happy Holidays! :)

3 Twilight Skateboard Tricks

Hello. These are three skateboard tricks that I have recently learned and love to do with a mini tune I made! They are nollie verial heelflip to feeble stall, nollie verial kickflip to rock to revert, and b/s kickflip to disaster to revert out! :) It is getting dark earlier so it happened to be twilight out. Thank you very much! Eric M. Rangel

Macromicrouniverseskateboardsesh

Hello. I was invited to attend a state skateboard championship this Saturday, though I could not attend because I had responsibilities of prior obligations and had to put other peoples needs before mine . So I made this little montage (and musical beat) after, at night! :)  My weekend has been pretty fun in any case! Stay warm! :)

Brushing My Teeth is Gud

Hello. I really gotten inspired the other day to brush my teeth! I figured the more antiseptic mouthwash I used the better! It actually really burned my eyes! :( I just washed my face with water afterwards and they felt better. Healthier is happier I'd say, brushing ones teeth is a good way to stay healthy! Thank you very much! Happy holidays! :)

How I made a: Shield and Sword

Hello. This is how I made a shields and sword of my very own, out of wood nontheless! Protective eyewear is a must! :) K, first I have drawn a layout of the measurements that the sword and shield will more or less follow.

I had previously selected the wood the night before so I retrieved my selected pieces of wood and placed it on the work bench and traced my guide lines to cut the shield and sword layout.
After I had drawn an outline I then proceeded to cut along the lines with a rotery hand saw! :)

Then I started to work on the sword.

The sword was more difficult. Especially the edges (one needs a table saw to have a proper cut). Pre drilling the holes is very important so that the wood does not split. The hand protector piece is made of two longer pieces of 2 by 4 and two pieces of 2 by 4 a third the length placed inbtween the first two making it more solid. A notch is cut out for the handle as well about a half inch in on both sides.

Then sanding is in order. I used 60 grit. The smaller the number the more course the grit (60 is very course, of course, a horse  of course, of course
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless... Oh, lost train of thought).

Then both sword and shield are sanded. I used gloves because other wise the grit would be way harsh to one's hands.

Feel free to paint the sword and shield I thought and so I used a theme from my Love Cats (cartoon).

 Spash! Splash! Splash! :)

The straps are tacked in from the inside and blunted flush with a hammer on the outside.

I used what shoe laces I had to snugly wrap around the handle.

This project took about three hours and well worth it. I am considering making a second set so a friend and myself could travel back in time to the times of the knights! Making this creative art project reminded and gave me the feeling of "set prop making", wich I think is super neat!! :) Thank you very much! May your creative ventures by fun, successful, and innovative! :) Eric M. Rangel

Animal and Fun Shapes Cookies

Hello. So I gotten this book in the mail the other day about Vegan baking. It is by Chef Chloe Coscarelli and I recommend that everyone on the planet, whom can appreciate the finer things in life, to please purchase her book. I am confident that one will not be disappointed. This recipe is loosely based on her Animal Cookies recipe found therein.

Materials:
Rolling Pin
Metal baking sheet
Parchment Paper
Ex-acto Blade

Ingredients:
½ Cup Apple Sauce
2 ¼ Cup Bob’s Red Mill (Short Bread cookie mix)
1 Cup Confectioners Sugar
1 Cup Water
1 Cup Sugar
Food Coloring
Nonpareils Sprinkles

In mixing bowl add the Bob’s Red Mill cookie mix and sugar, then mix.
Then add the Apple Sauce to the bowl and incorporate. Take the incorporated mixture and place on a floured surface. Start to knead the dough with both of ones hands. Add flour (Short bread cookie mix) as needed, and continue to knead until it is of a dough consistency. Then flour the ball of dough, work bench, and rolling pin to get ready to roll out the dough!
Roll out the dough. There should be an area of about 2 by 1 ½  of dough to work with.
it's a new continent
I did not have a cookie cutter (one time I went to a local place that was like a barn, it had a gazillion and one baking tins! Maybe they had cookie cutters as well? That place was surreal), so I used an Ex-acto art utility blade (that had been properly sterilized), to cut out the shapes. I used my imagination to cut out Animal like shapes, and those of an interesting nature such as a planet, hearts, and a skateboard! :) This took sometime (so I used that time to think, to understand that things take time). Carefully remove the unused portion of the rolled out dough (that can be kept in the freezer for up to a month).
Spatula the Animals and fun shapes to a Parchment Paper lined Baking Sheet.
Yay! Were going to be baked!
Place the baking sheet into a 350 degree oven for about 12-15 minutes (keep an eye on them so they will not burn).
And they said we had lousy benifits #sauna
little elves
While that is baking, in a  mixing bowl place the Confectioners Sugar and add water until it is of icing consistency. Divide that into small glass cups, to add the desired food coloring!  Stir the glass cup until all of  the food coloring is blended. The cookies should be ready to be removed form the oven! Remove the cookies from the baking sheet and place on a wire rack to cool (I used a grill). After they had cooled for a minute or two, brush on the colored glaze, and sprinkle the Nonpareils on the glazed cookie immediately afterward.
The Animal Cookies are now pretty much complete! Thank you very much and happy experimenting; Because baking, to me is finding ways to make people happy, your way! Take care! :)
