Home Made Vegan Quesa Dia

Hello. I have thought about opening up my own vegan quesa dia shack for a little while now. I have understood that I should want to make my own tortillas when doing so since all of the ingredients being used are not much when added all up. In essence a quesa dia is just cheese and a tortilla. Though if one would like to get more fancy it is absolutely possible by using higher quality ingredients and in many forms from different regions of this beautiful planet. This is just the basis of a great vegan quesa dia! I made this for the first time and I loved every bite. It takes longer to cook but it is well worth it, when the richness of the tortilla is experienced, and along with gooey vegan mozzarella, that is satisfying, yet I am left wanting more.

Tool: Rolling pin

Ingredients:
1 Cup of flour
¼ Tsp of salt
½ Tbs  of vegetable margarine
¼  water
vegan cheese (mozzarella)

 Directions:

In a bowl add the flour and the vegetable margarine. Rub in the vegetable margarine.

Add the water and knead until it is a well combined ball.

Roll the ball with a rolling pin until it is thin as 1/8 inches.

Use an upside down bowl to make the rolled dough into more perfect circles.

Place the tortilla on a hot iron pan for a minute, then flip it over for another minute. Place the cheese on a half of the tortilla and fold. The tortilla should stay intact at this folding point.

Cook the tortillas about 5 minutes on each side on medium high.

Since the tortillas are “raw” they need to cook longer then the kind one would buy at the store. This is just the basis of tortillas and making them into quesa dias. I think next time I will try to incorporate spinach into the tortilla and use a cheddar cheese.

Thank you very much!
